About these guides

Updated

These guides are written by Vizo Apps, the independent app studio that makes USB-C to HDMI: Phone to TV. They explain how to get a phone's screen onto a TV with a cable or without one, including methods that do not need our app.

Who we are

Vizo Apps is a small, independent studio that builds Android tools for TVs, monitors, USB devices and phones. You can see the rest of our work at vizoapps.com. We are not affiliated with Samsung, Google, Sony, Motorola, Huawei, ASUS, LG, Apple, VESA or the HDMI Licensing Administrator.

Where the phone facts come from

The lists of phones that do and do not output video over USB-C are the same conservative list our app uses for its compatibility check. A phone goes on the "works" list only when its maker documents video output or it is widely confirmed. When we are not sure, we say so, and the most reliable test is always the same: plug in a USB-C to HDMI cable and see whether the TV shows a picture.

Honest about limits

If your phone's hardware does not support DisplayPort Alt Mode, no app, setting or adapter can change that, and these guides say so plainly. We would rather send you to a Wi-Fi option that works than sell you a cable that does not.
